Website Development Process

Outlined below are the steps taken to get your website up and running.

Step 1

Undertake thorough website planning.

Step 2

Initial Consultation

Meet with Web Designer to discuss your business, your website requirements, your customer focus etc. Bring planning materials/documents that you may have already completed.

Step 3

Agreement

A website proposal is drawn up, taking into account the information obtained at the initial consultation. The proposal outlines your new website and what is expected from the client and from bdp.

Step 4

Planning & Design

Upon approval of the proposal, the planning and overall design of the website begins. It is common to undertake the following tasks at this stage:

Domain Name Registration

Choosing and registering your domain name eg: www.yourbusinessname.com.au is an important first step. Registration of your domain name provides a unique web address which identifies your business on the internet. A name search and registration of your chosen domain name can be done by bdp.

Hosting

Choose a hosting plan - 1yr, 50 email accounts etc

Step 5

Construction

Once the initial layout has been approved, construction of the website occurs.

Step 6

Testing

bdp completes testing of the website's functions.

Step 7

Launch

The website will 'go live' - be uploaded to the internet.

Step 8

Promotion

Once the website is fully functional and is operational on the Internet you must let people know about it. Site Promotion methods include:

  • Search Engine Optimisation - employing bdp to maximise your website's presence
on the most popular search engines.
  • Online - group email sent to your clients.
  • Hard Copy - brochures etc.

  • Step 9

    Update/maintain your website

This is done at agreed intervals (monthly, quarterly) etc.
